In Memory of Colonel Gary A. Wood
On the 2nd of August 2018, we said good-bye to Colonel Gary A. Wood, a veteran who proudly served in the Air National Guard for 37 years.
Colonel Wood retired on the 31st of December 2005 as the Commander, Logistics Readiness Squadron of the Virginia Air National Guard. In and out of uniform, he served his country and community with pride, dedication and humility. When he learned of a person or community in need, he did not hesitate to help. Throughout his career, Colonel Wood was heavily involved in community related projects, and was especially committed to helping children around the world.
The list of projects is rather long - organizing and delivering educational supplies and desks to children in Panama to rebuild schools, a mission trip to build a rooftop for a children's school in Haiti, the school lunch buddy program, Special Olympics, Kids Summer Camp and a pen pal program he established between students in Virginia, Panama and Norway, to name a few.
Colonel Wood held community service and education in high regard and thus, his family would like to honor his service by asking that donations be made to Folds of Honor in his memory. Donating to such a great organization will continue his legacy of helping and educating children.
Your generous gift will be used efficiently and effectively to help support Folds of Honor scholarship programs for the children and spouses of our fallen and disabled servicemen and women. Making a donation is easy and secure. Just click the Donate button on this page to make a donation in honor of Colonel Wood.
Together, we can honor those heroes who stand guard over our freedoms and make a difference in the lives of their families who have sacrificed so much.
Thank you for supporting the mission of the Folds of Honor Foundation!
