Welcome to Forty for Folds
I used to be a Triathlete! From 2008 - 2010 I completed 10 Triathlons including a Half Ironman, ran a Marathon and lost 35lbs. Then leaving my daughters soccer game one Sunday afternoon, my life changed. My car was struck by a driver who ran a red light, t-boned me on the drivers side. I struggled for 5 months, battling to walk due to pain and loss of mobility in my right leg. Then on November 1st 2010, Dr. Schuler and the team at Virginia Spine Institute gave me a new life. I underwent a two-level spinal fusion and while the recovery was long and difficult, today I live 98% pain free with no loss of physical mobility.
Since my surgery I have tried to get back into Endurance Sports, but 3 daughters, a demanding job and lack of motivation has kept me away. On January 18th, 2017 I will turn 40. Most get depressed, feel like their bodies are giving up on them and wish for 41 to come quickly. NOT ME! This year is going to be my year, the year I turn my body around and get back to the athlete I used to be.
However, turning 40 and making a commitment to being healthier sounds just like any other New Years resolution. This one is special, it's going to be done to help others. As the brother of a United States Marine, brother in-law of an Air Force Officer and friend of countless patriots who have fought for our country, it's time to give back.
I am proud to stand with the Folds of Honor and am committed to raise money to help the Foundation realize its mission of providing educational scholarships to the children and spouses of our fallen and disabled servicemen and women. Your generous gift will be used efficiently and effectively to help support Folds of Honor scholarship programs.
For Forty Weeks I am committing to Swim, Bike and Ride a mimum of 40 miles every week and I ask you to join me on my mission.
